What?

The Cook Islands Maori Database project is an online database of more than 15000+ Cook Islands Maori words stored in an online database. It is open to people who would like to contribute to it.

Why?

Why are we doing this. Basically, it’s to save the Cook Islands Maori language and its various dialects from extinction. See UNSECO’s endangered languages list http://www.unesco.org/culture/languages-atlas/index.php type in Cook Islands in the country or area field.
Maori Language Status

How?

How are we going to do this? By getting young people interested/engaged in the language…How? Technology. We’re going to build apps, web services, games etc… based off the initial project that allow people to interact with the database to do and build cool things in cool new ways.
